About

The Honourable Andrew Boitchenko was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta on May 29th 2023, representing the riding of Drayton Valley–Devon.

Born in Odessa, Ukraine, Boitchenko is a first-generation Albertan who immigrated to Canada as a teenager. He went on to earn a trades diploma from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology, followed by a diploma from the Alberta Real Estate School. Over more than 25 years, he built a successful career as a land developer and builder, becoming deeply involved in Alberta’s real estate sector. His work has been widely recognized, earning him the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal in 2022 and a place in the RE/MAX Hall of Fame.

Before being sworn in as Minister of Tourism and Sport, Boitchenko served as Parliamentary Secretary for Indigenous Relations from 2023 to 2025. Since becoming Minister in May 2025, he has focused on advancing Alberta as a premier, world-class tourism destination. His work includes supporting the development of all-season resorts in Castle, Fortress, and Nakiska, championing local sport through the 2025 Active Communities Initiative, and sponsoring Bill 16, the Traveller Protection and Destination Development Act, to strengthen trust, ensure fair competition, and provide consistent funding for destinations across the province.

Outside of his public service, Boitchenko is an avid outdoor enthusiast who embraces Alberta’s natural landscape year-round. He enjoys hiking, skiing, ATV riding, golfing, and fishing, along with a passion for motorsports, motorcycles, and boating. He has also pursued a personal interest in aviation and has greatly enjoyed flying airplanes.

He and his wife, Tatiana, have three children and a grandchild.
