FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Edmonton, AB – Earlier today, Premier Danielle Smith and Prime Minister Mark Carney took a major step toward getting the Pacific Link pipeline built and Alberta energy to new customers around the world – the very same project Alberta NDP leader Naheed Nenshi wrote off as a “pipe dream.”
It didn’t take long for Nenshi’s boss in Ottawa, Avi Lewis, to put his job killing, anti-pipeline, eco-socialist spin on today’s announcement, calling the Pacific Link pipeline “absolutely not in the national interest,” and “an offence to Canadian science, public health, collective safety, and common sense,” while vowing the NDP will oppose it.
This comes just days after the Alberta NDP claimed United Conservatives “stole from” their energy plan by supporting a west coast pipeline.
Now, Nenshi’s federal leader has declared war on the very type of project Canada needs – one that supports Alberta’s energy workers, strengthens Canada’s energy security, positions Alberta and Canada to be a global energy superpower.
“Albertans deserve a straight answer on this,” said Leader of the United Conservative Caucus Danielle Smith. “Just a few months ago, Naheed Nenshi’s party was trying to take credit for a west coast pipeline. Today, his federal leader is promising to stop it. Albertans deserve to know whether Nenshi stands with Alberta energy workers or with Avi Lewis.”
The Pacific Link pipeline is moving forward.
The only question left is whether Naheed Nenshi will stand with Alberta energy workers and condemn the anti-Alberta comments from his federal leader Avi Lewis.
