Ric McIver was first elected in 2012, and he was re-elected in 2015, 2019 and 2023, in the riding of Calgary-Hays.
Prior to this, Ric was elected to Calgary City Council for three terms. During that time, he served on the Police Commission and as Chair of the Calgary Housing Company, among many committee assignments. He has been a Calgary Stampede volunteer for over 15 years. In government, Ric has served as Minister of Transportation, Infrastructure, Jobs, Skills, Training, and Labour and Municipal Affairs.
Ric successfully came to agreement with the Tsuu T’ina nation to allow for the completion of Calgary’s ring road. Ric is a husband, father, grandfather and is active on several charitable and community causes. He chose Alberta as his home in 1981 and has been a proud resident since that time.
In government, Ric has served as Minister of Municipal Affairs, Transportation, Infrastructure, and Jobs, Skills, Training and Labour. As Minister of Transportation, McIver negotiated with the Tsuu T’ina Nation on the completion of the Calgary Ring Road, which is the kind of experience he plans to use getting Alberta on track and building the opportunities we all desire for our children and grandchildren.
Ric has been a proud Alberta resident since 1981 and, with his wife, is grateful to have raised four children and two grandchildren, of which all remain residents of their hometown Calgary.
