NEWS RELEASE: Rutherford statement on Dang’s abrupt decision not to seek re-election

(EDMONTON, AB) Today, former police officer and Chief Government Whip Brad Rutherford released the following statement on Edmonton-South MLA Thomas Dang’s abrupt decision not to seek re-election in the fallout of the NDP vaccine hacking scandal.

“Mr. Dang has done the right thing by withdrawing his request to re-join the NDP and by putting to bed questions about whether he intends to run in the next general election. He should now come clean about everything he knows regarding the NDP hacking scandal and the involvement of NDP Leader Rachel Notley, who has yet to provide clear answers to several important questions.

“Dang’s abrupt decision raises several new questions as well, like is Dang stepping aside for Notley’s benefit, and why is Dang willing to do the right thing by not seeking re-election, while Notley waited on the sidelines for others to make the important decisions for her?

“On Wednesday, we saw Notley dodge questions about Dang’s future in her party. Notley has failed to show leadership throughout this scandal, and many questions still remain unanswered about how she and her senior staff were involved. Albertans deserve answers.”
