Rebecca Schulz was first elected as the Member of the Legislative Assembly for Calgary-Shaw on April 16, 2019 and was re-elected on May 29, 2023.
Before being elected to the Alberta Legislature, Schulz received an Honours Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Saskatchewan, and a Masters Degree in Communication from John Hopkins University. In her professional career, Schulz worked as a communications professional.
Following her election in 2019, Schulz was immediately appointed as Minister of Children’s Services where she led Alberta’s negotiations on a federal-provincial childcare agreement. Schultz also served as Minister of Municipal Affairs, and was appointed as Minister of Environment and Protected Areas in June of 2025, a role in which she helped develop provincial frameworks to develop Alberta’s energy sector and reduce overall emissions and reviewing Alberta’s water management strategy. She held this role until January of 2026 in which she announced her resignation, alongside plans to resign as MLA in May of 2026.
Raised in small town Saskatchewan, Schulz and her husband Cole later moved to Calgary where they currently reside with their two children
