About

On May 29, 2023, Myles McDougall was elected to represent the people of Calgary-Fish Creek in the Legislative Assembly of Alberta.

Before being elected to the Alberta Legislature, McDougall has had an extensive career as an economist, technology entrepreneur, corporate executive, management consultant, adviser, and teacher. He first began his career in the public service, working as an assistant to Alberta’s Provincial Treasurer, before spending a decade working around the world for European-based banks as an economist and energy sector analyst. After returning to Canada, he founded PetroJet, an oil and gas technology company focused on lowering emissions in the oil sands.

Since being elected, McDougall has served on numerous committees, and in May of 2025, McDougall was sworn in as the Minister of Advanced Education, in which he invested in Alberta’s Post-Secondary facilities, and launched “A career to be proud of” to promote careers in the skilled trades and apprenticeship education.

Outside of elected politics, he has been active in governance and community leadership, including serving as President of the University of Calgary Student’s Union, a member of the University of Calgary Board of Governors, and the President of the Lake Bonavista Community Association. McDougall has lived, worked, and studied internationally, including in Argentina where he met his wife of 20 years, Patricia who is an elementary school teacher in Calgary. Together they have a son who attends the University of Calgary
