Mickey Amery was first elected as the Member of the Legislative Assembly for Calgary-Cross on April 16, 2019 and was re-elected on May 29, 2023.
Mr. Amery holds a Bachelor’s Degree in political science and economics, as well as a Juris Doctor in law from the University of Calgary. Prior to entering politics Amery was a practicing lawyer and business owner in Calgary. During this time he was involved in cases of national significance in Aboriginal Law and Consumer Protection.
In October of 2022, Mr. Amery was sworn in as Minister of Child Services, a role he would hold until June of 2023 after which he was appointed as the Minister of Justice. Within this role Amery has fought for bail reform and strengthening the Alberta Crown Prosecution Service, as well as taking a hardline against the Federal Government’s gun-buyback program.
Outside of politics, Mr. Amery remains very active in the community, having served as Director of the Learning Disabilities Association of Alberta, as well as other various boards and organizations across Calgary. He and his wife have two sons and a daughter together.
