The Honourable Joseph Schow was first elected to the Alberta Legislature in April of 2019 and re-elected in May of 2023 to represent the people of Cardston-Siksika.
Schow’s political career began with a Bachelor of Arts in Russian from Dalhousie University and a master’s in political management from George Washington University. He worked in advertising and as a small business owner before serving as a legislative coordinator in Alberta and a parliamentary assistant in Canada.
After winning a seat in the Alberta Legislature, Schow became the Deputy Government Whip and later the Government House Leader in October 2022. In June 2023, he was appointed Minister of Tourism and Sport. Since May 16, 2025, he has been the Minister of Jobs, Economy, Trade and Immigration, focusing on attracting skilled workers and promoting Alberta’s economic growth
A fifth-generation southern Albertan, Schow is a passionate advocate for the unique needs of rural communities. He lives in Cardston with his wife, Nicole, and their three children. He is a frequent attendee of local sporting events and is known as the tallest member of the Alberta Legislature, standing at 6’9”.
