Official Start of Summer Vacation

Happy Canada Day, Calgary-Varsity! Unfortunately, public Canada Day celebrations have been cancelled this year.  Despite these circumstances, Albertans can continue to celebrate responsibly.  This year has been a challenge, but Canadians have a lot to be thankful for.  I hope you’ll find a way to celebrate this wonderful place we call home.

I also know many of us will be missing the Calgary Stampede, but I encourage you to find ways to honour its spirit.  Pull out your boots and hat, enjoy a classic pancake breakfast, and yell out a Yahoo!

As summer presents many opportunities to get outdoors and enjoy our vast parks, I fully support the chance to take advantage of this time of year.  Please be mindful of others when visiting our provincial parks and continue to practice critical physical distancing measures so we can all continue to be safe and healthy.

Legislative Business

The legislature has had a busy spring session and we continue to sit through the summer.  The focus continues to be supporting Albertans through COVID-19, getting Albertans back to work, cutting red tape, strengthening public safety and protecting our most vulnerable populations.

The commodities price war we experienced earlier this year, in conjunction with the pandemic, has put Alberta’s economy in a bit of a tough spot, but the government continues to bring in measures to revitalize our economy for the long-term.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to reach out to my office at Calgary.Varsity@assembly.ab.ca.
