Jason Copping: Back to School

Posted Under: Jason Copping

The summer months always go by so quickly and this summer was no exception as we were able to get back to normal – seeing family and friends, attending the Calgary Stampede and other festivals, and touring our province.  It was great to get back out into the community to connect with many of you, whether it be at a community event, door knocking or meeting you in my office.

I continue to be inspired by the thoughtful and genuine conversations I have with constituents on a variety of issues.  The passion and ideas you have in making our province the best it can be makes me proud to be your representative in Edmonton.

This summer the Government of Alberta continued to focus on recovery through Alberta’s Recovery Plan.  Through programs such as the Alberta Jobs Now, which approved approximately 2,700 applications from employers, nearly 14,000 Albertans will get back to work in the coming months. This is in addition to continued investment for both economic and social recovery. The Alberta Government’s focus is on jobs, investment and diversification.

As we get our children ready to go back to school, whether it be elementary, high or post-secondary, I want to wish you all the very best for a school year that will be more normal then the last year.  I know last year was challenging, but I am optimistic that students will have a great year with their teachers, peers and friends.

To celebrate the new school year I would like to invite you to a Back to School BBQ I will be hosting for constituents of Calgary-Varsity. Please join me on Saturday, September 18th from 12-2pm at the Varsity Community Centre to celebrate our community.

For more information on the BBQ or to reach me please email Calgary.varsity@assembly.ab.ca or call 403-216-5436.
