As we head into the “Dog Days of Summer”, this year will look much different than in the past.    Many festivals and community events have been cancelled, but I am hopeful that you have taken time to responsibly connect with friends and neighbours.  Now is a great time to enjoy community attractions and support local businesses that have re-opened with appropriate protocols.

By August 1st we will know what the reopening of Schools will look like this fall, so please be assured that the Minister and our governments number one priority is the health and safety of our children and their families, while providing the quality of education Albertans have come to expect.

All understand that a “new normal” is likely  for business, schools and our communities now and into the future.

One of the Premier’s primary objectives is economic recovery, growth and prosperity.  Alberta has a strong, proud history of oil and gas development which will continue, but bold new strategies will ensure we push Alberta forward for future success.  Alberta will be the most attractive place to invest.  Our Economic Recovery Plan is critical to moving Alberta to a future-focused economy while maximizing our historical strengths and natural advantages.   Alberta Infrastructure’s strategy will create good paying Alberta jobs and ensure long term growth  by investing in hospitals, roads, schools, care facilities and much more.    In addition, Alberta will be THE place for businesses to invest through the Innovation Employment Grant, Alberta Enterprise Corporation, and Invest Alberta.   These initiatives will help spur the new economy with innovative knowledge-based technology, and continue of our proven record of world-leading environmental stewardship.  Opportunities for venture capital financing and business start-ups allow Albertans to be ahead of the curve and leverage the entrepreneurial spirit that has driven Alberta forward in the past while providing the key to Albertan’s high standard of living and social services..  I am proud to work towards solutions that will increase the vitality of our economic engine while protecting the most vulnerable.  On another note. I am proud of the community spirit demonstrated across our many great communities,  The Calgary Stampede may have been cancelled this year, its slogan and motto rings true – Alberta’s “Community Spirit” WILL Ride Again and we WILL ride strong and with ambition and confidence in our saddles in the future.

As always, please reach out to my office at calgary.fishcreek@assembly.ab.ca or phone 403.278.4444 with any and all feedback. We have been doing many “virtual” meetings, “masked” notarizations and assure you we will continue to be connected and accessible to our constituents.  Thank you for your efforts to flatten the curve of Covid-19 and please continue be vigilant and responsible in your personal actions.
