Bill 29: the Local Authorities Election Amendment Act

On Tuesday (July. 21), I had the opportunity to speak on Bill 29: the Local Authorities Election Amendment Act.

This Bill will help level the playing field for first-time candidates including women, and cultural communities. This Bill will mitigate the advantage that incumbents almost always have in Municipal politics.

Bill 29 will improve democracy, allow new fresh voices to get involved, and bring new people into the political arena that will help build stronger municipalities, and contribute to building a stronger Alberta.
