Searle Turton was first elected in 2019 and he was re-elected on May 29th, 2023 in the riding of Spruce Grove-Stony Plain.

Born in Regina and raised in Spruce Grove, Turton has lived in Spruce Grove for more than two decades. Before entering politics, Turton worked in the technology and construction industries. Turton is also a former three term city council member for Spruce Grove, where he oversaw significant population growth and investments in major infrastructure projects, including the Border Paving Athletic Centre.

Since being elected to the Alberta Legislature, Turton has previously served as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Energy, Following his appointment as Minister of Children and Family services in June of 2023 Turton was at the forefront of Alberta’s E.coli outbreak response and has implemented several initiatives focusing on supporting foster care and kinship caregivers, and has brought millions in investment into seniors housing across Spruce Grove-Stony Plain, and the rest of the province.

A lifelong volunteer, Torrent has participated in multiple international mission trips to support youth programs and housing projects for underprivileged families. He and his wife, Amy, live in Spruce Grove with their two children, Aiden and Xavier. In his spare time, Turton enjoys reading, travelling, skilling, and playing a multitude of sports including volleyball, soccer, tennis, and pickleball.
